Useful Methods For A Beneficial Linking Strategy
How do you feel about your linking strategy? Do you honestly feel that you are being fair with all the other bloggers who link to you, or is there room for improvement?
I know, that my own linking strategy can always do with more improvement. I am guilty by not always linking back to a blogger who has taken the time to mention me in a blog post. The least I can do is go and visit the blog and thank them for doing this. Despite my best intentions, some blogs do miss out on my humble visit and for that I’m truly sorry.
I find that often it is due to time constraints and if I don’t do this straight away as soon as I see the track-back I simply forget.
It doesn’t mean that we need to link back to every blogger in the world who links to us as this would be counter productive. Most of you know that incoming links are what gives us the golden juice and therefore linking back in a circle isn’t always the best way to press more juice out of the big G.
But I tell you how you can use incoming links to give back to those who clearly favor you and your blog. Here is what I do and it is fun:
- Stumble their latest blog post to SU
- Write a review on SU about the blogger
- Send them a thank you email (be careful NOT to spam people here, once is enough)
- Submit their post to Blogging Zoom
- Submit their post to Sphinn
- Twitter about your favorite blogger of the day
- Leave them a nice thank you comment on their blog, also start to visit the blog frequently and participate in their conversations.
- Mention them and something you really liked in a dedicated blog post
- Include them into your weekly link love post
- Write a review about their blog
- Take time to make friends with some highly respected bloggers (the ones you respect)
- Put them into your blogroll
- Use the What Others Are Saying Plugin by Sarah
- Use your own unique ideas to give something back
Don’t forget to let me know which methods work for you.
Now lets roll.. I’m off to spread the love again.

I think these are all really great ideas. With so many bloggers being worried about linking back because of the whole Google thing and no one really knowing if they should or shouldn’t it makes a lot of sense to find new ways to reward people for linking to you.
I don’t use them all, of course, but I already use several of them and am thinking about starting to incorporate a few more.
Jason: that’s great, I tell you since I started to implement this, life just became even better.
