<description>Gobala: I totally agree with what you are saying in regards to blogging and I try to just do what you are suggesting.

Jacques: Thank you for the great wishes. I also think that experience in the industry we choose plays a major factor in our ability to have future success. Experience combined with passion makes for a pretty good combination, don't you think? ;-)

		<description>Hi Everybody,
First all I would like to say thanks Monica for the inspiring post, and good luck with your dreams. As Globala so wisely said "There are a lot of bloggers who fail to monetize their content, simply cos they never thought of the money in the first place." I think you hit the nail on the head there Globala!

A lot of old school bloggers would not even consider that there is money in blogging. They are just fine with blogging about what they love! And there is nothing wrong with that, after all, that is probably why blogging is so popular today. Because of the passionate and unselfish content that bloggers have put into it over the years. Now, that may be! I personally think that the blogging platform is the most inovative and rewarding CMS (Content Management System) that a business or a business minded person can put in place today, and their is nothing wrong with that either. But I also think that if you are going to want to make money with blogging you have approach it as a "Business" from the start, with the proper direction for what you want to accomplish and a business plan to make it happen. Now that does not mean that you cannot be passionate about the content you write for your blogging business, just choose the blogging business carefully according to your interests and expertise.

<description>There's a huge difference between blogging for fun, and for money. If you blog on a topic for fun and it generates a lot of traffic, doesn't mean you can instantly switch to "make money mode" and it will work.

I think you need to set a direction for your blog, but not too specific as you mentioned. The figure out how you're going to make money from it. It would be great if your passion and your profit potential as the same, but it may not always be.

When all these things are figured out, then go all out writing content and forget about the money for a while. As long as you have a monetization plan for it, the money will come.

There are a lot of bloggers who fail to monetize their content, simply cos they never thought of the money in the first place.</description>

		<description>Hello MrLOL,

These are pretty valid comments for people who just want to go with the flow. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you are intending to do.

I also totally agree with you in the fact that we need to keep the content unique and not some rehashed stuff that has been blogged about a million times. The reality of this is that most topics have already been written about except new products that are constantly been released and news in general.

Other than that we can only inject our own personality into our blog and hope that we gain a continuously growing readership.

However, I personally do not agree with your first sentence. To me blogging is a way out of the misery of the hospitality industry in which I have been involved in for over 20 years. So I do have to think about ways to make money with blogging, since it involves my financial future. ;-)

I'm also not saying that I'm right and you are wrong. Far from it actually as the way we see things is directly related to how we see blogging and what kind of experiences drive us to blog.

I hope you understand what I mean and thanks for commenting, it is great to see other views being "spoken". :-)

<description>Well i dont think blogging initially should start as a money making idea.
The basic is to create unique content that people are interested in while you are having fun.
With todays Web 2.0 era, and social networking you can easily find related blogs, people with similar interests.
I'd say share whatever you'd like to, it doesnt even need to be too targeted in the beginning, the style you are posting in will attract the right people.Of course later on when you already have the content and traffic starts flowing you can target that traffic and eventually make some $ off of it.
