Are Your Sites Banned In China?

March 30, 2007 | By Kevin C. Nair |

I’m sure most people will know that China market can really be profitable if entered properly. However recently I come across various discussion about how your site can be banned from China viewers without you even noticing it. Talking about high hope, sure there is a way for you to check this.

One site known as Great Wall of China have this tools for you to check whether you’re banned or not. Just fill in your site URL and the site will process it and pop out the result. However don’t take this so seriously as the result might not be true.

For better understanding on the situation as to why your site got banned or not, Jonathan Zittrain and Benjamin Edelman from harvard law school had put up a really good site based to their project on Empirical Analysis The Internet Filtering In China. This is a good read with lots of reference where appropriate, so don’t forget to bookmark this.

So if your site got banned, does it really matter to you?

Love to hear some interesting thoughts here…
